Walnuts are an incredible nut, beneficial to everything from encouraging heart health, to helping with healthy cholesterol and potentially reducing cancer risk. They can even help your brain work!
It should be noted that walnuts are the most perishable of all nuts, due to their particular fat content and profile. Raw walnuts should therefore always be kept in an airtight container and refrigerated, and care should be taken when buying raw nuts since the nuts on the shelf in shops are often rancid. Go to your local health food store and talk to them about how they store their walnuts and have a taste of them – any bitterness indicates rancid fats.
Our certified organic walnuts come from either Kashmir in India (certified by EcoCert) or from California (certified by USDA Organic). They are imported under temperature controlled conditions, and then stored by the importing wholesaler in a cooled warehouse. We then store them in a cool room until activation. They are therefore as fresh and un-rancid (which is certainly not a word, but serves a purpose in this context!) as possible.
